List of All Marvel Movies (MCU) in Chronological Order

There are many superheroes, epic fights, and storylines that all connect in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It can be hard to decide where to begin with so many movies to choose from.

This blog post is for you whether you’re a die-hard fan or just want to learn more! I made a list of all the MCU movies in chronological order, along with short summaries that explain what they’re about and who the heroes are who fight to save the world.

Spoilers ahead! If you don’t want any spoilers, click on the show option below to see the list without any plot.

1. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Skinny Steve Rogers goes through a revolutionary experiment that turns him into the super soldier Captain America. He leads the battle against the Nazi army and Red Skull’s HYDRA organization, using his vibranium shield and courage.

2. Captain Marvel (2019)

Vers, a powerful Kree warrior, realizes she is Carol Danvers, a former Air Force pilot with amnesia. When she returns to Earth, she discovers her hidden superpowers and her involvement in an intergalactic conflict between the Kree and the Skrulls.

3. Iron Man (2008)

Terrorists capture billionaire playboy Tony Stark. To escape, he creates a high-tech suit of armor known as Iron Man. Facing his own faults, Tony faces his captors and rescues the globe from a dishonest armaments dealer.

4. Iron Man 2 (2010)

Tony Stark struggles with the effects of his suit’s arc reactor. As his health deteriorate, rival inventor Ivan Vanko develops identical technology, endangering his legacy. The government wants Iron Man tech, pushing Tony to battle for freedom.

5. The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Bruce Banner, a smart scientist who is cursed to turn into the terrifying Hulk when angry, runs away. Banner looks for a fix while facing a new monster threat: the Abomination. The military is after him because they see him as a weapon.

6. Thor (2011)

Thor, the arrogant prince of Asgard, is sent to Earth by his father. With his godly abilities taken away and having to learn to be humble, Thor has to show that he deserves to get back his hammer Mjolnir and face his brother Loki’s betrayal.

7. The Avengers (2012)

Loki, the God of Mischief, threatens to enslave humanity with an alien army. Nick Fury forms the Avengers from Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. To save the earth, they must cooperate and put aside their egos.

8. Iron Man 3 (2013)

The alien invasion haunts Tony Stark. He fights to be a hero with PTSD. An unknown terrorist named the Mandarin targets Tony and his family, pushing him to face his anxieties and find Iron Man’s true strength is not simply the suit.

9. Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Malekith, leader of the Dark Elves, wants to use the Aether to destroy the universe. Thor returns to Earth with Jane Foster and his untrustworthy brother Loki to defeat Malekith and defend the Nine Realms.

10. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

After decades in ice, Captain America tries to adapt. S.H.I.E.L.D., his trusted peacekeeping organization, has a dark secret. Cap must unravel a conspiracy and combat a hidden S.H.I.E.L.D. opponent when the Winter Soldier appears.

11. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Peter Quill, a rogue treasure hunter, teams up with Gamora, a deadly assassin, Drax, a warrior out for revenge, Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, and Groot, a walking tree, to save the world from a cruel bad guy.

12. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

Peter Quill confronts his past when he meets his father, Ego, a powerful celestial being. The Guardians must battle a new threat unleashed by Ego’s actions, forcing them to work together as a family.

13. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

When the renegade AI Ultron determines that humans are the enemy, Tony Stark’s peacekeeping experiment takes a disastrous turn. In order to prevent Tony’s plans from coming to fruition, the Avengers must defeat Ultron.

14. Ant-Man (2015)

Ex-con Scott Lang transforms into Ant-Man, brandishing a suit that reduces him while providing incredible strength. He masters the suit and prevents potentially dangerous technologies from falling into the wrong hands.

15. Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Over government control of superheroes, the Avengers fight with each other. While Iron Man fights for responsibility, Captain America fights for freedom. While they are facing a new enemy, this disagreement over ideas pulls the team apart.

16. Black Widow (2021)

Natasha Romanoff, better known as “Black Widow,” faces her dark past as a former KGB spy. She kills the Red Room, the cruel program that taught her, and then gets back together with her estranged “family” of spies.

17. Black Panther (2018)

T’Challa returns to Wakanda, a technologically superior African kingdom, to take his rightful place as king. He must protect his kingdom from Killmonger, a bitter opponent who threatens Wakanda’s isolationist ideals.

18. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Peter Parker is in high school and is now Spider-Man. He has to balance both roles. In order to show the Avengers how good he is, he fights the Vulture, a thief who uses alien technology for his own gain.

19. Doctor Strange (2016)

Following a career-ending accident, arrogant surgeon Stephen Strange discovers the magical arts. He is trained by the Ancient One to become a sorcerer and defend Earth from mysterious threats.

20. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Thor has to stop Ragnarok, the end of the world that was predicted, from destroying his home world, Asgard. He gets back together with his brother Loki and joins forces with the Hulk. To save Asgard, Thor faces his strong sister Hela.

21. Ant-Man and The Wasp (2018)

Scott Lang finds it hard to balance his job as a father with the consequences of his actions as Ant-Man. Reunited with Hank Pym and Hope van Dyne, who is now dressed as the Wasp, they go on a daring escape mission together.

22. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Thanos, a mad titan attempting to wipe off half of all life in the universe with the Infinity Stones, poses the Avengers’ most formidable challenge. Earth’s mightiest heroes get together with allies from around the galaxy in a desperate attempt to stop Thanos.

23. Avengers: Endgame (2019)

Following Thanos’ crushing victory, the remaining Avengers attempt a time heist to reverse his actions. This high-stakes quest challenges them to face their past losses and sacrifices. The fate of the universe rests on a last battle with Thanos.

24. Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)

Peter Parker grapples with the loss of Tony Stark while on a school trip to Europe. He faces new threats in the form of elemental creatures and a mysterious villain named Mysterio, forcing him to step up as Spider-Man.

25. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)

In San Francisco, martial artist Shang-Chi lives a normal life. He clashes with his father, the Ten Rings leader, and his history catches up to him. Shang-Chi must realize his potential to face his destiny and defend the world.

26. Eternals (2021)

The Eternals, eternal beings that have quietly lived on Earth for millennia, unite to fight the Deviants. Forced to face their forgotten past, they must work together to save humanity from this cosmic threat that could reshape history.

27. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Peter Parker’s life is turned upside down when his secret identity as Spider-Man is exposed, leading to chaos and danger. With the help of Doctor Strange, he seeks to set things right while facing familiar enemies from other dimensions.

28. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

Following Spider-Man: No Way Home, the multiverse is unstable. Dr. Strange, the mystic, enters the multiverse’s craziness to fight its enemies. He must explore alternative realms and face his demons to restore balance and save reality.

29. Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

Thor faces new challenges and allies as he grapples with his role as king of Asgard and guardian of the Nine Realms. Thor joins forces with a surprising ally, the mighty Jane Foster, to fight for the universe.

30. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)

Wakanda mourns King T’Challa. A new Black Panther emerges as the nation faces internal and external threats. The world powers covet Wakanda’s vibranium, forcing them to defend their legacy.

These were the movies from the MCU’s four phases. It is up to you whether to view them in the order they were released or in chronological order for a better understanding.
