Ryan Gosling’s “Project Hail Mary” Confirms 2026 Release Date

Ryan Gosling will lead the new science fiction film ‘Project Hail Mary,’ based on Andy Weir’s novel, the same author who wrote ‘The Martian.’ The movie has just secured a release date. In this movie, Gosling plays Ryland Grace, an astronaut who wakes up alone on a spacecraft, unable to recall his past or why he’s there. His mission is critical: to save Earth from a looming Ice Age.

The film’s premiere is scheduled for March 20, 2026. Christopher Miller will direct the movie, which is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Andy Weir also serves as a producer, with Drew Goddard writing the script.

Previously seen as Neil Armstrong in ‘First Man’ and in the sci-fi hit ‘Blade Runner 2049,’ Gosling is well-suited for the role of a solitary astronaut with the fate of humanity in his hands. The movie is still two years out, so production details and how closely the film will follow the book remain to be seen.

‘Project Hail Mary’ will be Andy Weir’s second novel adapted for the big screen, following the success of ‘The Martian’ in 2015.
