Shang-Chi Sequel Confirmed by Simu Liu Despite Marvel’s Quiet Spell

Simu Liu, the star of Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has confirmed that a sequel is indeed underway. This comes despite the absence of recent updates from Marvel Studios and Disney.

It’s been three years since the release of the original “Shang-Chi” film, which was both a critical and box office hit. The movie grossed over $430 million globally and received high praise on review platforms. A sequel was announced in December 2021, with Destin Daniel Cretton set to return as director.

On the social media platform Threads, a user expressed concerns about Marvel ignoring the Shang-Chi fans, noting the lack of development on the sequel and the character’s absence in other Marvel movies. Liu responded, assuring that the sequel is definitely happening.

Marvel Studios has faced challenges recently, with several films and series underperforming. This has prompted a reassessment of their strategy, particularly with the mixed reactions to their Multiverse Saga and external issues involving actor Jonathan Majors.
