Ma Dong Seok’s Latest Hit “The Roundup: Punishment” Shatters Records

In “The Roundup: Punishment,” Ma Dong Seok returns as detective Ma Seok Do. He battles Baek Chang Ki, played by Kim Moo Yeol, a former special forces member who now leads an online illegal gambling group, and Lee Dong Hwi’s character Jang Dong Chul, a tech expert. They work together with Jang Yi Soo and the police to stop these criminals.

Since its release, the film has quickly drawn over 1 million viewers, setting a record as the fastest movie to achieve this in 2024. It reached this impressive number within just two days.

On the day it debuted, the movie attracted 820,000 people and became the top film in the Korean Box Office, marking the highest opening day in 2024. This film now holds the record for the biggest opening in the “The Outlaws” series. Previously, “The Roundup” (2022) and “The Roundup: No Way Out” (2023) had lower opening numbers.

“The Roundup: Punishment” now ranks fourth among the biggest box office openings in Korean cinema history, following other blockbuster films like “Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days,” “The Battle Ship Island,” and “Train to Busan.”
